Data Foundations for Quality

Data sits at the heart of effective quality management. Without reliable information, it’s almost impossible to identify problems, monitor performance or drive improvement.

Data Foundations for Quality is an introductory CQI e-learning course that will provide you with practical insights into how data supports quality management and everyday decision-making. You’ll discover how collecting, checking and sharing reliable information can help improve processes and make a real difference in your role.

During this 90-minute course, you will explore scenarios involving quality professionals and complete activities and guided reflections. You’ll gain the relevant skills to recognise valuable data, make sense of what it really means and communicate accurate information to improve quality at work. This course would be ideal for junior roles, or those who are new to quality or data management.

Once you've completed the course, you'll be able to:

  • Understand what data means in the context of quality management, including recognising examples from everyday life and the workplace.
  • Describe the essential steps in managing data, and explain why data accuracy, completeness and reliability are important.
  • Identify and work with both quantitative and qualitative data and appreciate how these support monitoring and improving quality.
  • Explain how effective data collection and analysis leads to better decision-making and improved performance in products and processes.

Technical requirements: You’ll need a stable internet connection to run the course, and an internet browser (Edge, Safari, Firefox or Chrome). The course will work on all screen sizes, but we recommend using a tablet or larger screen for the best experience.
